Back in 1943, Federal Spec CCC-D-771B laid out the rules for these ducks with military precision — including the “Naught” class, a name borrowed from sailing where “naught” meant zero, nothing, the baseline. The spec went all the way up to 12/0 — a 48-ounce monster made with 9-plied yarns in both directions. That’s not fabric, that’s flooring. We don’t stock 12/0 — nobody does anymore. The world has gotten softer. But 1/0 is still here, doing the heavy lifting between the numbered ducks and its bigger brother. Not naughty — just naught. Zero apologies, zero shortcuts. Tool bags mostly — the kind that carry serious weight across job sites, thrown into trucks, dropped on concrete, expected to last years not months.
