We don’t pretend to be artists. The inside of an artist’s head is a complicated place. We visited. We left respectfully. We’ll stick to supplying the canvas.
Artists know what they want (exceptions apply!). We’ve seen them change their mind three times before we finish processing the order. We’re fast. We’ve also sold #4 duck for hand-painted floor cloths — the expensive kind, meant to be walked on. We’re not about to step on someone’s art to test it.
Sometimes it’s a smooth weave. Sometimes it’s coarse. Sometimes it’s unprimed because they’d rather do it themselves. Sometimes it’s triple-primed because life is short and the gallery opening is Tuesday.
We carry cotton ducks from 5 oz to 24 oz. Widths up to 144 inches — that’s twelve feet. Primed options from 8 oz to 15 oz, double or triple coated with acrylic, 60 to 120 inches wide. Oils. Acrylics. Alkyds. One of these will work. If you’re not sure which one, call us. We’ve been answering questions from artists for years. We even understand the chemistry now. Don’t ask us to paint though.
We also stock pure linen from Poland. Four grades. 59 and 79 inch widths. Linen has a tighter weave and a different tooth than cotton. It costs more. People who love it don’t care. We’re not here to debate cotton versus linen. We’re here to sell both.
What are you painting on now? What do you wish it did differently? Call us. We’ll figure it out. We’ve been doing this long enough to know when to say yes and when to say “Give us a day to think about it”.
At a glance: Cotton ducks 5–24 oz, up to 144″ wide. Primed 8–15 oz, 60–120″ wide. Linen- Four grades, 59″ & 79″.
