Mostly single yarns are used in the “fill” (horizontal direction). Hence, the name “Single Fill Ducks”.

Trivia:  A 7 oz SF Duck is never 7 oz. It weighs ~ 6.5 oz/sq.yd. We have been selling it this way for 15+ years and still do not know the answer! The 84 x 28 thread count, by far is the most common and popular construction.  A “true” 7 oz is a custom production. The downside is a higher MOQ,  longer lead time & more pricey!

This fabric also has single threads in the warp & fill of the fabric. 10 Oz. is the most staple and stable seller for us.  Depending on the end-use, we offer this fabric in two grades:

  • “A” Grade Dyeable &
  • “AB” Grade Non Dyeable.

Trivia:  A 10 oz SF Duck is never 10 oz. It weighs only 9.3 oz/sq.yd. We have been selling it this way forever and still do not know the answer! The 76 x 28 thread count, by far is the most common and popular construction.  A “true” 10 oz is a custom production. The downside is a higher MOQ,  longer lead time & more pricey!

14.9 Oz. Single Fill Duck – Eco Grade

  • Construction: Yarns : 7’s /2 OE x 7’s OE
  • Thread Count: 52×30
  • Weight: ~14.4 Oz./Sq.Yd (485 gsm)
  • Grade: “AB” Grade – non dyeable.
  • Stock Widths: 36″ & 48″
  • Description: The name 14.9 Oz. SF Duck is a misnomer. For starters, the fabric is rarely heavier than 14.5 oz/sq.yd. And our version is technically a hybrid duck. It has plied yarns in the warp and single yarns in the fill.  It is woven on the conventional shuttle looms – so it has that real “canvassy” look and a coarser texture. It is also eco-friendly because we have used a cotton rich blend of cotton fibers and polyester fibers (produced from recycled plastic bottles). In comparison to its cousin (an equivalent, that uses 100% cotton), our  Eco grade fabric has a much higher tensile and tear strength.  Our fabric is ideal for rugged outdoor applications like wax treated tarps, machinery covers, cattle dust panels, etc.

Trivia:  A “true” recycled fabric (eg., our Eco Grade) is more suitable for coating (but not in dyeing). Click here if you want to know why?
