Hera #8 Dyed

#8 Duck (18 Oz.) Dyed – Hera Collection

Hera means “protector” in Greek. With an extra vowel, it also means “diamond” in old Sanskrit. Both fit. This is #8 Duck — the one where things start getting serious. Sturdy. No-nonsense. Here to work.

You remember #8 from the Number Duck page. Nearly 18 ounces. Three-plied yarns in both directions. The duck you reach for when the job involves sharp tools, heavy loads, or rough handling. Here it is, dyed and finished. Reactive dyed for color that doesn’t run when you wash it (White is our undyed, bleached shade). REACH, CPSIA, Oeko-Tex compliant. All the toughness. Just with better hues.

Where it goes: Boat bags. Beach bags. Hiking backpacks. Duffles. Hunting gear. Anything that needs to protect what’s inside it. Including your reputation.

Why Choose Hera

Hera is reactive dyed (all colors except White, which is only bleached). The dye molecules bond to the cotton fiber at a higher temperature, and only for a brief duration — once that bonding happens, the color holds even at lower temperatures. That’s why the color stays put through washing and wear instead of fading or rubbing off. Rolls ship at ~50 yards. Every batch goes through computer-matched color verification before it leaves the floor, so the swatch you approve is the shade you get, run after run.

Available Colors

Hera comes in 10 standing colors — shown below, all part of our regular stock. Inventory shifts day to day, so give us a call to confirm what’s currently on hand. Looking for a shade outside this line? Larger volume orders can go through Bulk Dyeing; for smaller pilot runs, our Small Batch Dyeing program is the better fit.

⚠️ Color accuracy notice: Screen displays vary. Colors shown are approximations. We strongly recommend requesting a physical swatch before placing a production order.
